Gaps, renewals and probation
Short gaps between contracts are normal in contracting and unremarkable to lenders who understand the sector; they are a problem at lenders who do not. A recently renewed contract usually reads better than one close to expiry.
Trade workers on wages or an ABN are covered in home loans for tradies. Where you have moved to a new engagement recently, the same considerations apply as for probationary employment: continuity in the same industry carries real weight with the lenders whose policy accommodates it.
