The Hume Highway, the parks and Yagoona housing
Yagoona lies about twenty kilometres south-west of the city by its official measure, in the City of Canterbury-Bankstown. Its main commercial area is on the Hume Highway, the former Liverpool Road, where Australia’s first McDonald’s restaurant opened in 1971.
Parks include Gazzard Park, George Green Oval, Gillman Reserve, Middleton Park, Graf Park and O’Neill Park.

The name is an Aboriginal word meaning now or today. The area covering Yagoona, Bass Hill and north Bankstown was once known as Irish Town, after the Irish settlers granted land here, and the suburb of Yagoona was created in 1927.
St Matthew’s Anglican Church was built on Liverpool Road in 1861, serving as both a church and a school. Today separate houses make up about two in three Yagoona homes.
When a Yagoona buyer is looking to borrow more, Links compares a panel that includes Westpac, ANZ, ING, Macquarie and Resimac.
Example scenario (illustrative, not a real client): a Yagoona couple are short of the borrowing power they need for a house.
Before applying, they close two unused credit cards, reduce the limit on the one they keep, pay off a small personal loan and close a buy now pay later account, which lifts their borrowing power enough to reach their budget.
